My car had 3 headgaskets changes already, now I found out the block is no good. So I plan to buy a long block motor to put in. My question is does it really make a difference if its rebuilt or remanufactured motor, because the one Im planning to buy has a good warranty, 5yr/unlimited miles rebuilt. Or should I look for a remufactured one. Also I live in Hawaii so I need to take shipping cost in to consideration and core charge also

Hi there,

Re built and remanufactured short motors should really be one in the same thing. Engine O/Haul businesses usually refer to there product as Re manufactured, and small independent shops will call it a re build if they do it. Now the difference is in who dose what to there engines. I for instance (a small independent workshop) will re build an engine with new pistons, machined crank, re bore or new sleeves, new oil pump, cam bearings, new cam shaft timing chain and gears tensioners rails, I do the lot including engine balancing. Some will not go this far or use cheaper parts. I suggest that you talk to your potential suppliers and find out what they are doing to there engines and the quality of parts used. And remember quality beat a cheap re build every time.
