1988 Toyota Cressida engine gets hot driving up hills

i most recently had coolant system flushed changed oil every thing is good when i drive the car up hills the tempeture gauge increases , i turn the heater on tempeture decreases ussally on highways when driving in local traffic no problems i have exhausted my self this problem started right after timming belt change

Lets try changing out the thermostat and see what happens.and also check the fan clutch operation.
