replaceing the oil pan gasket

Do I have to remove the cross-member from below the oil pan to be able to replace the leaking gasket?

It makes the job a whole lot easie rto do, but you can loosen the bolts enough and lower the crossmember a bit to get a socket or wrench in the area. Have lots of patience with the latter suggestion.
