gear selector stiff n hard when shifting from park to revers

The problem that I have is that the gear selector feels really stiff and hard when I have to move it from Park to Reverse and Vice versa. Other than that the transmission itself works pretty ok - as soon as i move it to reverse/drive it engages quickly and without any jerks. Any ideas what might be wrong and how much it would cost to fix...

Either the shift cable is binding, bracket is loose, or the shifter base in console is binding.
Check the cable first, have someone move the shifter while you watch cable, if you see any binding, then replace cable.

Other possibility is a worn motor mount.
