When the engine is cold (has been off for several hours) it starts at very high RPM (over 2000) and it takes about 7-10 minutes before it drops to about 1100. This is my first Toyota so I don't know if this is normal. All my previous cars never started at such a high RPMs. Any advice please?
Thanks!

Could be the cold start injector time switch failing or the throttle plate sticking-could also be the coolant temperature sensor or the thermostat prolonging the open loop feedback.

Thank you for fast reply. But would the problems you described cause only slow RPM drop, but not a very high initial RPM?

Check the areas that I've mentioned then we'll go somewhere else if it checks out.
