Is it really necessary to get my transmission fluid flushed? If so, how often?

Toyota does not have a scheduled maint. for trans fluid.
Check your owners manual. Toyota also uses a special synthetic fluid in trans.
If you use car to tow something or anything that would cause excessive trans temps then you may want to get it flushed, but in the case of Toyota's, I would have the dealer do it.
