Smells problem

we have had a consistent melting plastic smell after we have driven a little bit...it comes into the car after we stop . no smoke has been discovered...we try to gt out of the car and pop the hood as quickly as we can once we notice the smell but cannot spot anything...suggestions on where to look or potential danger...
