Engine Performance problem
2006 Toyota Corolla 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 85000+ miles

When I go slow, under 30 mph, for example, when I'm stuck in traffic and inching forward, my car bucks forward sometimes. It's irregular as far as I can tell, and seems to go away when I speed up. The check engine light is also on. The initial mechanic's scan said that the solonoids needed to be replaced, so a transmission expert did that, to no avail. Then they replaced the entire computer, and things seemed fine. I picked it up yesterday, and drove it maybe 5 miles last night, then 20 miles on the freeway today, with no problems. Then I go to run some errands this evening and I'm not ten minutes from home when it starts bucking again and the check engine light comes back on. It jumped several more times while running errands, too. I've already put $1100 dollars into this and gone a week without a car (extraordinarily difficult in LA). I can't put any more wasted time or money into this. Any ideas?

Hi there,

Do you have the codes that are now set in the ECU? I think that I would be taking it back to the repairer and let them look at it as they do have a duty of care to fix this as you have already paid, there really should be no cost in this re test and inspection, start here.
