WHEN I USE THE TRUNK RELEASE LEVER BY THE DRIVER'S SEAT THE RELEASE WON'T WORK AND I MUST USE THE KEY TO ACCESS THE TRUNK. IT APPEARS THAT THE MECHANISM IS LOOSE OR WON'T "CATCH" TO RELEASE IT. HOW DO I REPAIR THIS?

You will have to remove the lever assy, and check the cable connection, something may have broken.

If OK, then open trunk have someone pull lever while you watch cable, if it is moving, then check connection of cable to lock on trunk.

Other possibility is cable is binding or broke. You will have to remove rear seat and lowertrim to replace cable.
