I was driving out of state when I noticed the oil light came on. This surprised me since I had just put oil in the car when I left home. About a half hour after the oil light came on (30 miles or so) the car stopped. There was no funny noise, no smoke, or anything. The car just began to slow down like it was out of gas but it wasnt. I had it towed to the first shop were they told me it was the timing belt. Then I was told that this model does not have a timing belt but a chain so being a single women I decided to take it to the nearest toyota dealership. At the dealership they told me that they think it could be the camshaft or a broken rod. They were estimating 2800 to get the car fixed. This seemed a little expensive to me considering I have had no problems with the car before this. Everyone at the dealership was thinking this was a strange situation since I had oil and the car and nothing smelled burnt and it was only a 2004 corrolla with 89000 miles on it. I am going to take it to another garage but was wondering if you think that was what it could be and the cheapest option I could got for. Your help would be greatly appericiated. When I try to start the car up it sounds like it is going to turn over it just doesnt. Any advice would be great. Thanks!
