I did not change the engine oil for years and white smoke came from the engine. I went to a repairer who flushed 3 times with engine oil and said it is fixed. I found the car still has large amount of smoke when it is first started and disappeared as I drive on, with occasional white smoke emitted. Will the white smoke go away after a few days as I am afraid he did not finished the job properly.

White smoke (especially in cold weather) that dissipates quickly is of no concern.

White smoke that lingers in a cloud and smells "sweet" is coolant and indicates a head gasket/head/intake manifold problem.

Have a compression test performed to see what's up.
