Check the owners manual for a maintenance schedule. Newer Toyotas are equipped with iridium plugs which last around 100k miles.
If you follow the maint. Schedule in the owners manual, it is the best guide to use with regard to maint.
Also check the CV boots for rips and tears and look for any leakage (oil, transmission fluid and coolant) and have it fixed. Inspect the brake pads and rotors for wear and brake hoses for leaks/bulging.
I would also change oil/filter every 5,000 miles.
