Just installed a ram air intake on my Corolla?

Just installed a ram air intake on my Corolla. When warming up it idles high (2,000rpm or more) and when warm idles at 1,400 rpm. If I am coasting (neutral going down hill) idle fluctuates between 1,000 and 1,500 rpm. Checked all hoses and MAF sensor and all seem to be good, all lines seem to be tight. Do I need to reset my ECU and give the car a new learning curve for the additional air coming through or is there something else I should be checking?

Recheck your install, make sure all electrical connections are correct. Do you have a check engine light?

I do have a check engine light. Said something about an Idle control malfunction. But I'm pretty sure that my IAC couldn't have gotten all messed up, especially when it worked fine 30 minutes before with the stock air intake. It has to be something to do with the new intake but I can't figure out what. I checked and re-checked and after that, I uninstalled and then reinstalled the intake again, refitting all the grommets and clamps to make sure no air was escaping. I'm stumped.

It appears the idle is about 500 rpm off. The IAC can control idle within a certain range, If IAC is fully closed and idle is still high, that would indicate a vacuum leak.
Some systems require the PCM to learn new parameters, some require re-flashing.

My advice it to call CAI manufacturer and get ahold of tech dept. Tell them the problem and see if they know what to do.
If you have access to a scan tool, you can watch what PCM is commanding the IAC to do, but remember, just because the PCM commands it, doesn't mean it happened.

This is an old post but it sounds like the air vent hose from the engine crankcase got plugged up instead of attached to the new air filter assembly. Can you upload an image so I can see the installation?
