Last night it was very cold and I had the lights switched off. During the night I looked outside and the headlights were on. I went outside and turned the switch off and on and activated the hi-beam and they finally went out. Same thing happened the next night. Any idea's relays?

It was extremely cold -25 F

Ok, my understanding is it could be the daytime running lights module (Canada) causing the intermittent trouble with the lights coming on. Thanks 4 all the help.

I have the same problem. Only started this year, in 2011. I had the Relay replaced for the Daytime Running Lights, because there was a Technical Bulletin I found that supposedly solved my problem. Had that replaced, but yet it still proceeded to do the same thing. Toyota looked at it and couldn't find anything wrong with it. I think there is a "short" in the steering colummn for the lights. When you go to turn your car off, turn the high beams on and leave them on, turn the car off. The lights should not come on in the middle of the night. That's worked for me for the past 3 nights.
