2001 Toyota Corolla Price and repair cost for MAP Sensor

Hi,
My car failed inspection due to code 171 (system too lean) and the mechanic is saying (after doing the computer scan) I'll have to replace MAP Sensor and that will cost me $400 with labor. Please advise.

The MAP sensor will usually run between $150-200 depending on where you buy it.

Go to the car repair link in this thread or get a Haynes manual and see how difficult it is to change (usually an electrical connector and a vacuum line) and if you feel you can do it, do it yourself.
