I have a faulty ECU which will not allow my ABS light to be reset. to get a 2nd hand one I need a number from the unit. how can I get this. do I need to find the same year and fuel type car or would (for example) a '00 do?

just locate the part number on yours and then call around junk / salvage yards and ask if they have an ECU with that part number...
