i have a 1999 Toyota Corolla 116,00 miles and over the last 3 or 4 days when I accelerate from a complete stop the car sputters and jerks a little bit. Then the car takes off like normal. This may happen only once a day, it seems to be most common after running for just a few minutes. Though it has happened once after the car was running for a while. I am not sure where I should start looking for problems. I do not have any warning lights on the dash that are illuminated.

start doing a tune-up to your engine..

Spark plugs.. wires... distribuitor cap and rotor.. oil change... and see how it works after that..

Suggested Repair

Start with an engine tune-up: replace the spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap and rotor, and change the oil, then see if the sputtering and jerking on takeoff improves.

Conversation Summary

The owner of a 1999 Toyota Corolla with 116,000 miles reports intermittent sputtering and jerking when accelerating from a complete stop, most often after the car has been running only a few minutes. The car then drives normally, and no warning lights are on. The expert recommends starting with a tune-up, including spark plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor, and an oil change, then checking whether the symptom continues.
