1998 Toyota Corolla 4 cyl

Pwr steering pump

are there metal shims in the mounting holes on the block of the vehicle. when I removed the mounting bolts of the pump, i had to pry it from the block to remove it. Now I have a problem fitting the new one on. It seems like there are metal shims in the mounting holes nearest the outside of the vehicle. The problem is that i can't move them in or out to install the new pump. any suggestions?

You mean alignment pins?

Just use a stud to align pump and then remove when installed and replace with original bolt.
