Transmission problem
1997 Toyota Corolla 4 cyl Automatic

I have a 1997 corolla and it has a bad 3 speed/ no overdrive transmission. I found 1993 geo prism with 1.6 liter motor and auto transmission with OVERDRIVE. Can I swap overdrive transmission into corolla with no overdrive currently in it. If not can I swap motor and trans. If so will I need to change computers. I think I might be getting into a mess. If anyone could give me advise on what route to take please do so. Both cars have 1.6 liter motors and I need a car badly. Also if I can use overdrive transmission, can I install switch. I have both cars and both motors run good. Thank Greg!

You asking for trouble, since the 97 is OBDII, while the 93 is OBDI, the two systems are not compatible.

If 93 is Aisian A131L, then it is a TCC lockup trans, and your TCC may not be working.

If it has internal damage, then use a pre 96 A131L from a 1.6.
