Engine Cooling problem
1996 Toyota Corolla 4 cyl Four Wheel Drive Manual

How often and how important to fill raditor with coolant? Already looks to have fluidl in radiotor ; I would only fill coolant bottle with water not radiator it self: am I doing something wrong with this? Engine does not run hot ; felt warmer than ususal air flow through air vents; checked coolant bottle empty; radiator level low; not full.

Check the coolant level every time you fill up. If you are losing coolant it is either leaking it or burning it.

Never top off with water, buy a 50/50 premix at a local autoparts store.
Water will dilute the coolant and if done enough, will lower the freezing level of coolant. This can cause the block to freeze in the winter and crack. You are then looking at a new engine or freeze plugs if you are lucky.

Have the cooling system pressure tested for leaks.
