my brake lights won't go off
i found a black round piece on the floorboard
under the brake peddle
where does it go?

Most likely that is a spacer for the brake light switch. Switch is located on the brake pedal bracket below driver dash

As blue said, that is EXACTLY what it is.

If it falls off, the brake light adjustment will be off and lights will be on all the time. You can adjust switch to compensate.
