I recently have been noticing that when I try to start the engine I sometimes get a click sound that does not turn the engine over. I keep trying until it starts. I just had a new battery put in a year ago and I had the parts store check the alternator. They say the starter needs to be replaced. I was wondering if this is a very hard job to do by myself? It looks like it is in a hard to get to place. Thank you for you response.

Try remote starting it from the starter solenoid if it cranks the engine over -check the inhibitor switch, ignition switch to include the battery connections

To add to what Raz said:

Best way to remove starter is from underneath. Raise car, put on stands. Remove the right side wheel, splash shields.

Disconnect negative battery cable and solenoid connection. Starter is held in place with 2 bolts, one facing right side, one facing left side.
You can have starter tested at most autoparts stores for free.
Replace with reman'ed Denso unit.
