Transmission problem
1989 Toyota Corolla 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic
My transmission is leaking between the transmission and engine, fluid pours out of the small hole at the bottom of the tranny were it meets the eng. It will only leak in park or neutral, when it is in gear, the leak will slow to a very slow drip(it may actually stop leaking, and the fluid could just be from residual from when it was in park, but i'm not sure). Any how, I have replaced the trans. output shaft/ front pump seal twice, there is no fluid coming from around the trans pump seal (the large seal behind the seal in question that holds the pump in), the torqe converter, or there are no leaks or cracks internally on the trans.I inspected ever part of the trans and the only place the fluid is coming from is inside the trans output shaft seal, and its not where the outer part of the seal touches the trans, its from the inner part of the seal that touches the shaft on the torqe converter. The seal is in perfect condition, and the torqe converter seems perfect too. I have asked many mechanics about this, and so far none of them seem to know what the problem is! Any information or ideas would be a great hep! Thank you.
