1989 Toyota Corolla Speedometer doesn't work

The speedometer just all of a sudden stopped working. If I unhook the battery cable and rehook it up, will that work?

No, it is cable driven. Remove the lower cable (connects to trans) and see if it is broke, it is usually the one that goes first.

You may need to remove the air cleaner and TB hose for better access. Replacement lower cables are available from Toyota and are about $60 bucks or so.
