Changed the head gasket, distributor, now the car shifts down under load - if accelerating hard usually at about 50km/h it start bouncing up and down gears jerkily. It sounds like the problem could be a vacuum hose, but I haven't been able to figure it out.

Make sure the TV (detent) cable is adjusted properly and not kinked or broken.
