1989 Toyota Corolla 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual

Just had a compresion test done on the 89 corolla.
Has good compresion and it was mentioned that I would need to make an adjustment or a carb-re-build.
Just replaced the plugs the other day and they smelled badly of gas and were pretty dark. Now the new ones are the same color after only a few days. Car is always bogging down as if it's flooding out or something?
So is there a way I can try adjusting the carberator to see if that helps any or what do u think I should do?
Thanks for any help.

Hi there,

I would be doing a re build on the carby as you may have a leaking throttle pump check valve or a leaking power valve.

Hi SpIkEE71,

Before starting on anything major, check and see if choke is opened fully after warm up.

If the air filter is badly clogged, fuel will be rich.

Thanks for the advice guys.I'll check that out.I did notice the throttle cable looked like it was just a tad bit loose. And it's got a new air filter, maybe a month old so it's in good shape still. The old one on the other hand looked terrible!
Thanks again.
