1989 Toyota Corolla brake and battery stays on

I have an 89 corolla and my question is the brake light and the battery light stays on all the time on my car question is why does it stays on even after i took my car to another mechanic and he told me that it was my alt. Now I just changed the alt. the light stays on and I even look at the electrical diagram and I cant figure out what is the problem is now
