Hi. My 87 corolla (carb 1587cc) will run perfectly from a cold start but then after stopping will not restart when hot. The mechanical fuel pump will not pump fuel to the carb. (I've pulled of the hose and checked). I have replaced the fuel pump and the filter but the problem persists. After leaving the car for about an hour it begins to pump fuel again and eventually starts and runs perfectly.

Hi there,

You may have excessive vacuum building up in the fuel tank, have the carbon canister replaced and see if that improves the problem, one way to do a quick test, take off the fuel cap when it wont start, if it sucks air (vacuum in tank) I would be looking at the carbon canister first.

If its not vapor lock then there's a problem with the carb.
