Hi
I have a 2002 Toyata Celica (Manual).
The other day i went to a friends place where his house was downhill. I parked my car in front of his house. The only way i could take my car out was to reverse it uphill. When i tried to take my car out i had give more acceleration as my car was going forward coz of the hill and i had another car infront of me. When i did that.... I had this strange kind of smell which i was later told is clutch burning smell. It was extreme + i think had some smoke come out of the exaust as well. My Questions are
-Is it normal to expect the clutch burning smell specifically when i gave a good amount of RPM and then reversed or this is a sign of my clutch plate wearing out. This is the first time this has happened. I have never had this kind of a smell before. When i brought the car in Oct last year as per the owner he had recently replaced the clutch plate.

Excessive slipping will cause the clutch disc to give off a unique odor.

If you are no longer experiencing slippage, I would not worry about it.
