2002 Toyota Celica check engine light

was scanned @ auto zone and has a code p1693. they didn't know what it was for. about to have to do emisions will that affect it?

You'll fail if the light don't come On during the bulb test and also On during engine run.

OBD2 1993 indicates a problem with the oil control valve(OCV)for the variable valve timing(VVT)system, this valve controls oil pressure to the variable cam timing system and the best way to check it is to connect a scantool to perform a test of the valve using the active test method, the toyota dealer can do this
