Hi there,

Start with a comp test and if all is OK, check valve clearances, replace spark plugs, leads if they test high resistance, check the dist cap for tracking marks (carbon lines inside) replace fuel & air filters, check ignition timing, replace O2 sensor if it has never been replaced, as a tired old O2 sensor will make the ECU go rich on the mixture, add fuel system cleaner, check all vacuum hoses and do a scan for any set fault codes.
