Engine problem
1985 Toyota Celica 4 cyl Automatic 167000 miles

Hi,
I am having a problem that I never had before The problem is: when I stop on traffic light and take away my foot away from the accelerators, the car engine accelerates up and down by itself. On that moment it seems the car engine will stop soon.

Today I got another problem, I saw my car "Check Engine" light turn on and off for a while.

Find the diagnostic check connector-jump TE-1 to E-1 and count off the flash.

Your up and down idle could be cause by the idle air control valve,throttle position sensor,and also cleanout the throttle body/plate.
