Whenever I start accelerating the car seems to stutter unitl I go over a certain rpms. B/c of this the car died on me while stopped. Also I idle to low, it dips below 1000 every now and then. The stutter problem I was told was either the spark plugs or the spark plug wires.

Hi there,

If the car has not had a tune up for some time, get that sorted first. Change Air & Fuel, filters, replace spark plugs and ignition leads. To replace the rear spark plugs the plenum chamber must be removed, this may be beyond your capabilities. These rear spark plugs are normally Iridium and don't need to be replaced for 100,000 Km. (60,000 MLS) front plugs are standard. The ignition leads are not cheap so be sure that they are faulty before replacing. A work shop will be able to read the Kva (voltage ) and check resistance to see if they are OK. Also get a ecu fault code read out this will help determine and faults in the engine management system.

Good luck

Update!

I had a tune up and that did not solve the problem, im guessing its a computer problem. Anyway I dont think shelling out 65 bucks at theToyota headquarters for a test is gonna help. I was told they wont tell me the exact problem, only what needs to be replaced.

If you're in the United States go to autozone and get read for free and comeback with the OBD2 code/s and report your findings to Mr. Mhpautos

Find the diagnostic connector upfront jumper TE-1 to E-1 turn key On count the flash X XX X XX X XX"

You jump this terminals and with the key On, the CEL will start flashing. Again 1st flash will indicate the first no. Then it pauses then it will flash the 2nd digit no.

Note: it will flash 3 times for the same code. If there's more in it it will flash the next one.

Ok I was told by someone at the toyota hq that I needed a new intake hose, and new trans and engine mounts. Now what im guessing is that when I get the intake hose fixed then my mounts will stop shaking around. Of course im gonna have to get those fixed.
