It appears that when my brand new Camry is started cold, it idles around 1500-2000 rpms.

Is this normal? subsequent starts let the car idle btw 1000-1500rpms.

what are the proper ranges for this vehicle for a cold and non-cold start?

Thanks!!

Hi Tlizard,

That is normal.

The cold start idling rpm would depend on ambient and engine temperature and might vary so there is no definite cold start rpm.

The idling rpm that is constant would be when the engine has warmed up to operating temperature.
