Mine is a Toyota Camry LE 2007 model. Its done only 8000 Miles. Recently when I switch on the AC, I get a bad smell for few seconds and then it goes off. It happens always when I switch on the AC. Can you advise on what could be the reason for this and also let me know if there is any maintenance I can do it myself.

Hi there ,

This is a very common complaint. What is happening is there is moisture trapped in the A/C system Water is drawn from the air (dehumidified) as a natural occurrence to the function of the A/C. This moisture is drained away via a drain tube, (you may see puddles of water under cars which have the A/C running) This tube may require cleaning. as a result of moisture in the system, mould starts to grow and this is where the smell comes from. You can buy over the counter duct treatment that you spray in and it kills the spores. But get the drain tube checked as well.
