After a tune-up performed at the dealership, my car began to "sputter" or "jump" and I felt that it was going to kill. What could cause that? Also, by the time I drove to the dealership (45 miles away), the Check Engine light came on.

Your describing an engine missfire. one or more cylinders are not fireing as should. This could be as simple as a plug wire not on all the way. Or something under the hood got pumped loose. A miss fire could be what set the light.
