My owner's manual says I should use only Toyota Super Longlife coolant when changing coolant in my Camry. My mechanic says he has found no problem using other brands such as Prestone or Peak. Toyota charges $26 per gallon for its coolant. What is your opinion about using coolant other than Toyota's in a Camry?

I am the technical manager for Prestone.
You can use our extended life coolant safely in your Toyota after draining and flushing the old OE coolant. Our extended life coolant meets or exceeds all Toyota specifications for coolant.
