2003 camry intake manifold?

I have a '03 camry and when it idles it makes a knocking pinging sound, I had an oil change and they said it was the intake manifold gasket and it would cost a grand to fix. only less than 50,000 miles, this sounds a bit strange to me. any ideas?

this is a common camry 2.4 liter engine problem. its actually not the gasket its the intake itself. toyota has an updated intake for this car. and as for the price a grand is way out of line. iirc the new intake is about $350 and it takes about 4 hours to replace. the new intake comes with gaskets attached so don't let anyone sell you gaskets when getting the intake replaced.
