2002 Toyota Camry Whooping noise

I have a whooping noise that sounds like it is coming from under the dashboard. It seems to happen mostly when I’m idling and when I’m breaking. It only last about 1-2 seconds and maybe once or twice in a 15 minute period. Since I live in Orlando FL. the A/C is on most of the time and one time I sat in the car for about 10 – 15 minutes with no A/C and I didn’t hear the noise. The noise is like a whooping starting at a low end of the scale rising to a higher pitch almost like you’re whistling for someone but a whoop instead of a whistle. Any thoughts?

Symptoms indicates the noise is possibly from the AC system. Such whoopng noises are common when the expansion valve is working under pressure.

If that is the case, the noise is not going to cause any problem and the only way to go about is to replace the expansion valve.
