I have a 2001 Toyota Solara. For about a month now I have been feeling a "thunking" vibration under the floor by the pedals and it's getting worse. Most noticeable at speeds above 40 mph. I thought it might be bad rotors so I changed them and all the brakes out. It made no difference. I looked under the car several times and I can't find anything wrong. The CV joint boots aren't torn. Someone told me to check the motor mounts. Visibly, I don't see anything wrong, but when I put the vehicle in gear and run up the engine with the brakes applied, the motor moves about 2 inches to the rear. My question is does this sound like a bad mount?

Hi flyinhawg,

2 ins is quite a lot of movement but if you accelerate in gears, it is acceptable. You should try engagine from N to R then back to N and the to D without any acceleration and if the movement is 2 ins, the mounts don't look good.

Did you check the CV shaft inboard joints for wear and lack of lubrications?
