Clean the windscreen with a good quality glass cleaner, and use good quality blades, cheap blades form chain stores are just that, cheap and nasty. You may need to increase the pressure on the blade slightly, ask your mechanic to do this as if to heave the wiper motor may over heat and you will also get a squawk with a partially damp screen.
