1999 Toyota Camry EBrake light goes on and off

Recently the "Brake" light in the dash comes on and then goes off if i engage my e-brake and then disengage it. Now however when that light is on my engine seems to rev different as if I'm driving with the e-brake on. What could this problem be and how soon do i need to get it fixed?

HI there check the brake fluid level, as i think that this light is also the low brake fluid warning as well, re post if this is ok.
