1998 Toyota Camry V6 Front Wheel Drive Automatic 133000 miles

My car is idling really rough and stalls out sometimes but when I am on the road and punch it it has no problem getting up to speed, so when its idling its a rough idle and it puffs normal collored smoke out the tail pipe on a cold day. But it should be a steady flow not puff puff. You have any ideas, and it had a code but I was not able to retrieve the code. Also it has had a recent major tune up.

Get the OBD2 read out at autozone and comeback with the code/s this is where we start the diagnosis. Meanwhile you can take out the idle air control and clean it-along with air passages and check the throttle position sensor's closed/WOT voltages. Also the EGR system.
