I got a message back from my first question about a steering problem from racefan966. The car is making a loud grinding noise in both directions that you turn. It also does not have a complete turning radius. It is not making any clicking noises. Racefan966 suggested it might have something to do with the cv axles or the hub assembly. What are those? A friend said it might be a heat shield that is coming loose? The car sounds like something is loose when you go over a bump.I don't know if this is how to get back to racefan966.

Thanks, Frannie Newbold

Let's tackle the grinding noise. As the car makes grinding noise in both directions and nor making full radial turn, I suspect that it is your power steering system.

What color is your power steering pump fluid? It should be red as it is supposed to be Dex III ATF. It is written on the cap. Is the reservoir full with fluid? How tight is your belt? A belt that is too tight will make your P/S pump squeal.

As something loose, a heat shield may do that.
