8 days ago my engine overheated. The gauge was working at that time. The mechanic replaced the thermostat and it worked fine for 6 days. Then the gauge began reading cold, occasionally to the middle for a few seconds, then returning to cold. After 2 days of this, the check engine light came on and stayed on. Any ideas? Thanks.

Have codes read that will tell what put light on. Also temp sender may have been damaged in overheat.
