My service station indicated the left axel outer boot is broken and will cost $199.95 torepair.

My question is this: Since I don't know what an outer booti is, is this a valid repair that needs to be done? Does it have tobbe done immediately? What could happen if not done?
Thank you

Hello, yes 199.00 for a boot replacement is normal, this repair must be done to avoid failure and should be done ASAP to avoid a break down. The boot covers the drive axle cv joint and keeps water and dirt out.

Thanks for using 2carpros. Com :-)
