My directionals are functional initally and then suddenly they do not work. I have checked the fuse and it seems fine. If I let the car sit overnight, they work again in the morning.

You may have a faulty flasher control unit.

Thank you Mark!
Is that something I can purchase and replace myself?

Hi there,

Yes, but I would get a Toyota unit, it will cost a bit more but I find after market flashers prone to failure more often. It may prove wise to get your mechanic to confirm the diagnosis, there is always the chance that by not seeing the problem first hand there may be something else, he should be able to check it in a few seconds, so the cost would be minimal if at all. But to me the flasher unit is the obvious place to start looking.
