1995 Toyota Camry starter connector

I am currently replacing the starter with one from a salvage yard. The problem is that there is no starter connector hub, what does this do, and how important is it to reconnect it?

Hi there,

I don't quite understand what you mean by starter connector hub? the terminology is wrong i feel, can you describe it? see pic, which part is missing?
