No need to be sorry. A head gasket replacement requires the head to be removed from the engine ( a lot of work). With 134000 miles on the head, you should have the head rebuilt or replaced with a new or remanufactured head. When a head is removed from an engine it should always be checked for warpage. Being that the head on your engine is aluminum, it will (allmost always be warped) when it is removed -- just a fact of physics. Also, the head bolts MUST be replaced with new ones. Â If this job is done properly it should cost around $1000 to $1500.
