This 1992 Camry really does have 256,000 miles on it. I am somewhat mechanically inclined but I'm not sure what to check before taking to repair ctr or scrapping. shifting gears does not transfer power to wheels in any measurable way. Trans has new fluid but I did not replace the filter. Other than a whole trans, are there other things to check/replace without significant expense?

Hi there,

I would take off a trans cooler line and check for oil pressure and flow, run the hose into a container and run for a few sec, if you have good flow the pump and torque converter are ok,if so you may be looking at a mechanical failure.
